KL - Meng Kee, Char Siew & Chicken

Was in KL for a meeting, got here early for lunch and decided to go to this char siew (chinese bbq pork) place at Tangkat Tong Shin. Meng Kee is one of the most popular place around this area, its was like 10 mins to 12pm and already half the place is filled.

The place is converted from an old house just like most shops along the road. We ordered some Pak Cham Kai (braised chicken) and the famous Char Siew. As usual and yes I know, very unhealthy, I specifically ask for the top and bottom part of the char siew which are usually overcooked, but these dark crunchy part are hard to resist :P.

The chicken is ok, very soft and tender topped with a lot of dark soya sauce like. The char siew is fantastic, although it looks like a mixture of fats and meat, you can hardly tell the differences. Each bite is soft, full of sweet and yummy char siew taste and very tender. You just can't tell the fats and meats. Really wonder what is the secret!

This fantastic meals cost RM18.90 for 2 person excluding drinks! A little steep but the food is good plus its KL. The trend seems to be when the food is good and the place is old, its expensive in KL ;)
